Hello my friends! Welcome to this week’s installment of the 2016 Home Trends series!  Today, we’re talking lanterns.  Big, small and everywhere in between, lanterns are still hugely popular in home decor.  Do you have a lantern or has it been on your wish list?  I was lucky and scored a 32″ lantern from a facebook seller.  32 inches!!!  The thing is huge but I’m loving the possibilities with it!!

I have some great inspirational photos to share with you today, along with some excellent articles about how to dress up your lanterns.  It doesn’t matter if your style is coastal, rustic or traditional, there’s something for everyone in this post!

Let’s get to the good stuff, shall we??

How adorable and crazy simple is this to pull off?  You can find these little trees virtually everywhere during the season. I think this is very clever and plan on doing this for my Christmas display in my lantern this year!

This filler is beautiful and delicate! See how the piece in the back acts as a backdrop for the sand, shells and starfish? This is a great idea when you don’t want to be able to see through the lantern, focusing on what’s inside.

This is a very creative display by A Southern Blossom. She took loads of fall decor, leaves, pumpkins, stems and sprigs and stuffed her lantern. I love this because you could do it for any season with any of your decor.

A great article from Dawn at Joyful Scribblings on How To Decorate A Lantern.

I hope you’ve gotten some fine ideas on how to decorate a lantern today.  These can also be used for birdcages too, don’t forget that!!  I wanted to link you up to my lantern Pinterest board also.  I love making these for y’all to give you even more inspiration without having the longest post ever. lol

Until, next time, go forth and decorate something!

Love & Hugs,

I’m in my mid 40’s, mom to one grown daughter, Katelyn, and a grandson, Dawson. He is the light of my life!! I am with the man of my dreams and he spoils me, as well as helping along with the furniture when I need help moving things in and out. My other hobbies include photography, scrap booking, reading and of course, decorating my home! My days find me in the office, painting furniture, decorating my home and when I’m lucky, shopping!
I hope you’ll follow along with me on this journey called home.
